The Canada Greener Homes Grant, provided by the Government of Canada, will help homeowners make their homes more energy-efficient, create new jobs across Canada for energy advisors, and fight climate change. Access up to $5,600 under the initiative to undertake an EnerGuide evaluation and energy efficiency retrofits.
If you are eligible, you could be reimbursed for:
- Up to $5,000 total for eligible retrofits across all upgrade categories. Only homeowners
who conduct at least one retrofit that is both recommended by an energy advisor and
eligible will be reimbursed - Up to $600 for the cost of your pre-and post-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation
- Get an extra $100 off with a exclusive Solos Energy discount
Eligibility Requirements
- You must register for the Canada Greener Homes Grant. Registration can be
completed via the Homeowner Portal - You must be the owner of the home; you will be required to show proof of ownership
at registration - The home must be your primary residence; you will be required to show proof of
residence at registration. Rentals are not eligible - The home must be greater than 6 months old based on the date of occupancy of the
first homeowner - Eligible property types include:
- Single and semi-detached houses;
- Row housing;
- Townhomes;
- All-season cottages;
- Mobile homes on a permanent foundation;
- Permanently-moored floating homes;
- Mixed use buildings (residential portion only); and
- Small multi-unit residential buildings (three storeys or less with a footprint of 600 m2
or less).
- You must have a pre-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation and a post-retrofit EnerGuide
evaluation to be reimbursed - Indigenous governments or organizations (e.g., band councils, land claim
organizations) and housing management bodies and other representative or
Indigenous service delivery organizations with formal partnerships with Indigenous
governments or organizations are also able to participate
How to Apply
1. Learn about the initiative to determine if you are eligible to participate, documentation
requirements, and other participation considerations
2. Register and book your pre-retrofit evaluation. Confirmed registrations will receive a
registration number from the program
- You must select the Service Organization you wish to engage from within the Homeowner Portal
- To identify energy advisors and Service Organizations that serve your area, visit our Energy Advisor Search Tool
- It is recommended that you locate an available energy advisor, identify the Service
Organization they are working for, and then submit your pre-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation request in the Homeowner Portal - If you are unable to find an available energy advisor, please email and inform Natural Resources Canada at nrcan.canadagreenerhomesgrant-subventionmaisonsvertes.rncan@canada.ca
3. Plan, document, and complete your home retrofits based on the upgrade recommendations in your Renovation Upgrade Report. Review the upgrade requirements and available grants when planning your upgrades online
4. Book your post-retrofit evaluation and apply for reimbursement. After your upgrades are complete, book your post-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation and complete the online application form in the Homeowner Portal
5. Receive your reimbursement!
