The Story Behind Solos Energy

Solos Energy was founded by a husband-and-wife team with a shared vision for a brighter, more sustainable future—one where their children could grow up in a world that values renewable energy. Originally from Holland, where one in four homes is powered by solar, they were surprised to discover that Canada’s solar market was not as widespread. In a country blessed with so much sunshine, solar energy wasn’t getting the attention it deserved.

The couple had a simple goal: to help homeowners, businesses, and communities embrace solar energy as a practical, cost-effective solution. They are passionate about educating others on the benefits of solar, often asking, "Everyone wants to own a home—so why wouldn’t they want to own their power?" After all, owning your energy means more control over your costs and a step toward financial independence.

What started as a passionate project has since blossomed into a thriving business, focused on making renewable energy accessible to everyone. At Solos Energy, we are committed to helping our clients save money on energy bills while providing affordable, sustainable energy solutions. Our family has grown, not just by our two children, but by the incredible team of employees who share in our mission to create a cleaner, more sustainable future for all.

After receiving multiple quotes from vendors across the valley, we went with Solos for a 9.6kw array on our roof. The finished product looks great, and their microinverter-based system leaves a much tidier equipment setup, without a large inverter unit mounted on the house. The communication and sales process was very thorough, and the crew that did the install was impressively fast.

Maarten and Liza are so great to work with. Right from the very start with several proposals to meet our needs and budget. We went with a 36 panel grid tied system and their team had it done in just a few days. They set us up with the EMA app so we can see the production. Fun to see our use from BC Hydro go into the negatives! And now we pay into our asset instead of hydro’s pocket! They also walked us through all the BC Hydro rebate and Greener Homes loan paperwork and were super quick to respond to our questions, of which there were many.
