Maarten, originally from the Netherlands, moved to Canada in 2005. As a fresh Human Kinetics graduate from UBCO, he embarked on a successful business journey with his family before founding Solos Energy. His passion for solar sparked during travels, witnessing the impact of climate change firsthand. Now, as a devoted leader, Maarten aims to raise awareness about renewable energy. He prioritizes safety, quality, and a positive work environment within our team. Beyond work, Maarten cherishes time with his beautiful daughter, embraces outdoor activities, and enjoys riding his motorcycle.

Originally from The Netherlands, Liza found her home in the picturesque Okanagan in 2014. Transitioning from a healthcare career to the wine industry, Liza’s perspective shifted after becoming a mother. Recognizing the importance of the planet’s future, she strives for mindful choices, believing they impact generations to come.

Driven by her passion for people and clean energy, Liza loves being part of Solos Energy. Behind the scenes, her diligence ensures Solos Energy operates seamlessly.

Off-duty, Liza treasures moments with her daughter, husband, and dog. Whether traveling, riding motorcycles, or enjoying the outdoors, her zest for life extends beyond the workplace.

Meet Jake, a seasoned solar professional with extensive experience across the industry. He has held key roles, including Regional Manager for a solar installation company and Account Manager at one of Canada’s largest solar distributors. These roles have provided him with deep industry knowledge and a strong skill set. Jake is a dedicated leader who is passionate about advancing renewable energy, prioritizing safety, quality, and a positive work environment to make a meaningful impact.Outside of work, Jake enjoys spending time with loved ones, relaxing on the lake, and exploring various hobbies.

This is Gerard! With a career starting in the mid-80s, he took charge of his parents’ plumbing business, focusing on solar thermal energy. Today, with over 35 years in renewable energy, he brings hands-on expertise to every project, from development and funding to construction and operational maintenance. As the co-founder of Renesco and GreenIPP, Gerard has led international initiatives and sits on advisory boards globally. As a sustainability advocate, he co-authored textbooks and now shares his wealth of knowledge through consulting for industry leaders worldwide.

Introducing Bentley, our resident fur-bassador with zero solar expertise but a heart full of enthusiasm! This ball-chasing, stick-loving, belly-scratch aficionado is the true MVP of our team. When he’s not soaking up the sun, Bentley can be found perfecting his backstroke in Okanagan Lake or outrunning the fastest of shadows. While he may not be a solar whiz, Bentley’s boundless energy and infectious joy make him an essential part of our team!
